Heidi Helling

Founder & Certified Health and Life Coach

For much of my career, I worked in wildlife biology, public lands, and natural resource management, spending time in some of the most beautiful and remote landscapes in the Arctic and American West. My work eventually led me to the U.S. Forest Service, where I supported land stewardship and resource management projects while collaborating with agencies, stakeholders, and communities to help care for our shared public lands.

While that work was meaningful, I also experienced something many know well: the realization that a life can look successful on paper and still leave you asking deeper questions.

Questions about purpose.

Questions about alignment.

Questions about who you are becoming.

Through my own seasons of transition, I discovered that growth rarely follows a straight path. It often arrives through uncertainty, unexpected change, and the courage to reimagine what comes next. Those experiences ultimately led me to pursue a dual Health and Life Coach Certification through the Health Coach Institute, a CCE accredited program with the International Coaching Federation. I am also beginning a Master of Conservation Leadership at Colorado State University, where I continue exploring the connection between personal growth, leadership, and our relationship with the natural world.

Today, through Katabatic Flow, I help clients navigate life’s transitions with greater clarity, confidence, and intention. Whether you are experiencing burnout, considering a career change, searching for deeper purpose, or simply feeling called toward a different chapter, my goal is to provide a supportive space where you can reconnect with what matters most and move forward in a way that feels authentic to you.

I believe lasting change does not come from becoming someone else.

It comes from returning to yourself.

Why Katabatic?

A katabatic wind is a powerful current of air that flows from higher elevations, gathering momentum as it moves downslope. Though often invisible, it has the ability to reshape landscapes, influence weather, and create movement where stillness once existed.

Katabatic Flow was inspired by this idea.

Life transitions can feel much the same. What begins as uncertainty, restlessness, loss, or change can become a force that guides us toward greater clarity, purpose, and alignment. While these seasons are rarely easy, they often carry the potential for profound growth.

Katabatic Flow was created to support people of all ages as they navigate those moments of transformation with courage, curiosity, and self-trust.

Like the mountain winds that inspired its name, this work is not about forcing change.

It is about learning to move with it.

I look forward to meeting you and seeing you achieve your goals! - Heidi
